  • Troy Kooima

    Troy has performed music, been a youth pastor, spoken to crowds and been part of numerous ministry events since 1990. Troy is our primary traveling worship leader/speaker who brings a high energy and joy-filled style wherever he goes. Sioux Falls, SD is home.

  • Board Member- Jamie Bogaard

    Jamie got introduced to Happy the Dog at Niagara SERVE many years ago. He would later partner with Happy as the coordinator of Crown Point SERVE. Jamie has been blessed in so many ways as a supporter, speaker, board member and friend of Troy and Happy. After nearly 18 years of youth ministry, He now serves as the Senior Pastor of Lynnville Friends Church in Lynnville, IA. Jamie and His wife, Missi, are enjoying being empty nesters. Go Hawkeyes!

  • Board Member- Dean Cramer

    Dean had the full Happy the Dog Experience, meeting Troy at a youth retreat in Michigan. More then a decade later, Dean and Troy met again at First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Dean and his wife live in Central Arkansas now but still have keep up with Happy the Dog updates. Dean Joined the Board in 2021.

  • Board Member- Sonya Kuiper

    Sonya was introduced to Happy the Dog at a young age. She has fond memories of Dawn and Troy leading worship at school chapels. Sonya remembers exciting gym lock-ins where Happy the Dog would lead fun, free worship. They would also talk about faith and relationship with Christ. In more recent years, she experienced Happy the Dog leading worship at an event called Dunamis. Sonya loves the way the Lord is using this ministry to draw people to himself! Her role with Happy is to pray and encourage. Sonya joined the board in Fall of 2019

  • Board Member- Phil Moe

    Board member, Geriatric Drummer . Phil has been involved in the Sioux Falls regional Christian music scene since the early 90’s. Phil has known Troy since he graduated from Dordt and even his son was mentored by and played with HTD all through his middle and high school years. Phil still fills in occasionally when Troy is desperate and needs a drummer.

  • Board Member- Jess Porter

    Jess has two wonderful sons, Ryan and Tyler. Jess is a Finance Counselor at Avera which means she approves/denies patients financial assistance on their medical bills. She mentions It can be a very rewarding position to bless those in need! Jess has known Troy since her senior year in high school where he became my youth group leader at First CRC. That relationship turned into a lifelong friendship and we are so glad she has stayed connected.
